Corporate Restructuring Careers & Jobs
Careers and jobs in corporate restructuring can be rewarding personally and
financially. In particular as a corporate restructuring consultant, you will
feel good knowing you have saved a company that is important to its employees,
investors, local community and industry.
If you are good at corporate restructuring, your income will be in the
low to midsix figures. This is a great career path for former executives
and general business consultants looking to specialize.
What does it take to be a successful corporate restructuring consultant?
To be a great corporate restructuring consultant you need the four Es: Experience,
Expertise, Empathy and Energy. We will cover these below:
- Experience – You must have done some business turnaround
in the past to qualify. We prefer those that have former consulting experience,
but this is not a requirement.
- Expertise – You must have knowledge of the latest
corporate restructuring techniques. The best self-study training is The
Insider Secrets to Saving Your Business. See corporate
restructuring manual to learn more.
- Empathy – You must be coming from “a
good place” when you are a corporate restructuring consultant.
You must be part therapist, part minister and part dictator. You need
strong empathy skills to gauge the mood of your employees, your leadership
team, your board, your banker, your investors and your creditors. If
you miss an emotional cue from any of these groups, your business could
be in bankruptcy or receivership in just a few weeks.
- Energy – You must have the capacity to work long
hours over 6 to 18 months. In a turnaround, there is always so much to do
and you must fix everything as fast as you can to give the firm its best
chance of survival.
If this profession still excites you after reading about the fours Es,
then this field may be perfect for you.
